Custom Railing Services in San Ramon and the Tri-Valley

Every Railing Type From One San Ramon Shop

San Ramon Custom Railing designs, fabricates and installs railings for homeowners, HOAs, builders and property managers from Dougherty Valley to Walnut Creek. We work in all four main materials: wrought iron, stainless cable, tempered or laminated glass, and powder-coated aluminum. That means the recommendation you get is based on your deck, your view and your budget, not on whatever a crew happens to stock.

Every job follows the same path. We measure on site for free, draw the railing, check it against the California Building Code (42-inch guards, the 4-inch sphere rule, 34–38 inch handrails), fabricate and finish it in our shop, then install it. When a city or HOA wants drawings, we prepare them. Call (925) 438-6219 to set up a visit.

Which Service Fits Your Project

Not sure where to start? These are the matches we make most often in the San Ramon Valley:

Managing many units rather than one house? Our railing solutions for HOAs, multifamily owners and contractors cover phased balcony replacement, bid packages and repeatable details across a whole property.

Serving San Ramon and the Tri-Valley

We install across the San Ramon Valley and the Tri-Valley, including San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton, Alamo and Walnut Creek. Each city runs its own permit counter and portal, and unincorporated Alamo, Blackhawk and Diablo go through Contra Costa County, so we plan drawings around the department that will actually review them.

We publish honest price ranges per linear foot on every service page and in our San Ramon railing cost guide, then give you a firm number after a free on-site estimate. Read more about our shop, send us your project details, or call (925) 438-6219.

FAQ

Questions, Answered

Straight answers on cost, code, permits and materials. Still unsure? Call and ask.

Do you build the railings yourselves?

Yes. We draw each railing, then cut, weld and finish the metal in our own shop before installing it. Glass panels are cut to order by a glass supplier from our measurements, and we install them on hardware we set. Keeping fabrication in-house lets us match heights, spacing and finishes to your site instead of adapting a kit.

Which railing material works best in the Tri-Valley?

It depends on the job. Cable and glass protect views on hillside decks. Aluminum suits HOAs and multifamily buildings because it will not rust and matches approved colors. Wrought iron adds character to porches, balconies and stairs. All metal and glass options are noncombustible, which matters in parts of the valley mapped as fire hazard zones.

Do you help with permits and HOA approval?

We do. We prepare the drawings and details building departments ask for, such as guard heights, baluster spacing and post anchorage, and the drawings and finish samples many HOAs want for architectural review. Requirements differ between San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Pleasanton, Walnut Creek and Contra Costa County, so we confirm what your address needs before we start.

How much does a custom railing cost?

Installed prices in 2026 run roughly $50–$200 per linear foot for aluminum, $65–$135 for standard wrought iron, $75–$260 for cable and $150–$600 for glass. Corners, stairs, hillside access and permit fees push numbers up. Treat these as ranges only; a free on-site estimate gives you a firm price for your project.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, San Ramon Custom Railing is licensed and insured, and we are locally owned and operated with a 925 number that reaches our own team. We are happy to provide insurance documentation to your HOA, property manager or general contractor before work begins. If a general contractor is running your remodel, we can be added as a subcontractor with the paperwork they require.
